A Cajun Seafood Boil Spot Has Opened a New Location in South Calgary

Seafood boil fans in Calgary have a new spot to check out in the city’s south.

Bag O’ Crab, a restaurant known for its Cajun-style seafood boils, has opened another Calgary location on Macleod Trail SE, taking over the space that previously housed Rusty’s Roadhouse.

The concept is simple and interactive. Diners choose their seafood, pick a sauce, decide on a spice level, and the kitchen prepares everything in a classic seafood boil. The meal arrives sealed in a bag, ready to be poured onto the table and eaten with your hands. Gloves and bibs are part of the experience, because things can get messy fast.

The menu focuses heavily on seafood options. Guests can order items like Dungeness crab, lobster, shrimp and crawfish, which are boiled and tossed in flavourful Cajun-inspired sauces.

If seafood isn’t your thing, there are still a few alternatives on the menu. Options like Cajun wings, grilled beef short ribs and po’ boy sandwiches offer something different while still leaning into the restaurant’s Southern-inspired flavours.

Bag O’ Crab first launched in California in 2010 and has since grown into a multi-location chain across the United States and Canada. Calgary got its first taste of the concept when the brand opened a location at Pacific Place Mall last year. This new Macleod Trail restaurant marks the second location in the city.

For anyone who enjoys hands-on dining, seafood boils and bold Cajun flavours, the new south Calgary location adds another option to the city’s growing list of seafood spots.
