Southeast Calgary is getting a new rooftop patio this month, and this one isn’t planning to close when summer ends.
Calgary-born CRAFT Beer Market is opening its third location in the city on August 27 at Shepard Flats, complete with outdoor and rooftop patios, including a rooftop space designed for year-round seating.
The new restaurant will open at 5155 130 Ave. SE, bringing CRAFT to another corner of the city 15 years after the restaurant first got its start in Calgary.
From Calgary To The U.S.
CRAFT may have restaurants across Canada and the U.S. today, but it all started on 10 Avenue SW.
Founder PJ L’Heureux opened the first CRAFT Beer Market in Calgary in 2011 after being inspired by Portland’s craft beer culture. The idea was to make the growing world of craft beer more accessible, with a large selection of beer served alongside a full restaurant menu.
From its original Beltline location, the Calgary-born company expanded across Canada, opening restaurants in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario.
Earlier this year, CRAFT took another big step and crossed the border.
The company opened its first U.S. location in Dallas, Texas, on April 1, 2026. The two-storey Preston Center restaurant has more than 100 taps, room for around 500 guests and its own expansive rooftop patio.
Now, CRAFT is continuing to grow back where it started.
The Shepard Flats restaurant will become the company’s third Calgary location, joining its original Beltline restaurant and Southcentre Mall.

A Year-Round Rooftop Patio Is Coming To Southeast Calgary
One of the biggest features of the new location will be its patio space.
The Shepard Flats restaurant will have both an outdoor patio and a rooftop patio, with the rooftop designed to offer seating 365 days a year.
Inside, guests can expect CRAFT’s extensive beer selection, including local and international craft beer, along with cocktails and wine.
The food menu will follow the format of its other restaurants, with shareable plates, burgers, bowls, salads and other casual dishes.
Before the restaurant officially opens, CRAFT will hold a First Look event on August 20 in support of Calgary-based charity Parachutes for Pets.
The First 250 Reservations Get $20
Reservations for the new location are already open, and there’s an incentive for booking early.
The first 250 reservations made for August 27 or later will receive a $20 CRAFT On Us Card during their visit.
The promotion is available while quantities last.
