My Life With the Walter Boys – Netflix Is Filming Season 3 in Calgary

Filming dates: August 6 to December 1, 2025
Location: Cochrane, Crossfield, Airdrie, Okotoks, and Southern Alberta
Where to watch: Netflix

Netflix’s hit teen drama My Life With the Walter Boys has returned to Alberta for Season 3, and filming is underway again in Calgary and nearby communities. The series exploded in popularity after its debut, topping charts in more than 80 countries and generating tens of millions of views.

Season 2 lands on August 28, but crews are already rolling for Season 3 in familiar parts of Southern Alberta. According to Netflix in Your Neighbourhood, previous seasons have filmed at well-known Calgary landmarks like Heritage Park, the University of Calgary, and the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, as well as picturesque spots in Cochrane, Kananaskis, and Rocky View County.

These Alberta locations double as the fictional town of Silver Falls, Colorado — and fans will recognize plenty of local scenery as the drama continues to unfold. With cameras rolling into December, there’s a good chance you’ll see a scene or two taking shape around town.

Heartland Season 19 Continues Filming in Calgary

The long-running Canadian fan-favourite is back in production with Season 19 and it’s still filmed right here at home.

Alberta’s landscapes are a core part of the show’s identity, and its filming locations continue to highlight the beauty of the Foothills, ranch country, and prairie skies.

Murdoch Mysteries Shoots in Calgary for a Limited Run

Filming dates: July 30 to August 1, 2025
Location: Calgary
Where to watch: CBC

Toronto’s favourite Victorian detective dropped into Calgary for a brief three-day shoot this summer. Murdoch Mysteries is known for smart storytelling, fun historical cameos, and incredible period sets and Calgary played host to a few new backdrops for the upcoming season.

It wasn’t a full run, but if you’re a fan, keep an eye out for some familiar YYC scenery in the next episodes.

Where to Spot Film Crews in Calgary

Crews for all four productions have been seen in Okotoks, Cochrane, Crossfield, High River, and even downtown Calgary, but production teams tend to keep their exact filming locations quiet to avoid crowding. That said, if you pass a coffee shop full of cowboy hats or see school bleachers flying a Colorado state flag, you might just be witnessing Netflix in action.

Pro tip: production trailers, blocked-off side streets, or clusters of gear-toting crew are telltale signs that something’s being filmed nearby.

Why So Many TV Shows Are Filming in Calgary Right Now

Alberta’s film scene is thriving thanks to a few key factors:

  • Tax incentives that attract major studios

  • Diverse landscapes that mimic everything from Texas deserts to small-town USA

  • A growing network of professional crews, sound stages, and post-production facilities

Between Netflix, CBC, USA Network, and others, Calgary continues to prove it’s not just a great place to live, it’s also a great place to film.
