Calgary’s coffee scene just went global again.
Ben Put, co-founder of Monogram Coffee, has officially placed third in the world at the 2025 World Barista Championship in Milan, representing Canada among the best of the best.
Ben’s performance was a mix of precision, emotion, and storytelling. His routine was described as a love letter to the people who have poured into his journey, and it showed in every detail of his set.
This isn’t new territory for Ben. He is a seven-time Canadian Barista Champion with an unmatched record of 3rd in 2015 and 2016, 4th in 2017, and 5th in 2022. That is nearly a decade of world-class consistency and proof that Calgary’s coffee culture can hold its own anywhere.

From Calgary to Milan and Back to Your Morning Latte
If you have ever ordered a latte from Monogram, you have already experienced the kind of craftsmanship that earned this global recognition. Monogram has built a reputation for pairing technical skill with genuine warmth, taking something as simple as coffee and turning it into connection.
Founded by Ben, Justin, and Jeremy, Monogram has grown from a hand-built coffee cart into one of Canada’s most recognized specialty coffee brands. The team has now collectively won nine Canadian Barista Championships, representing Canada year after year and inspiring their community to discover coffee in new ways.
Their cafés in Altadore, Britannia, Fifth Avenue Place, and University District are local favorites for a reason. Every detail, from the beans to the playlists, reflects the same care and curiosity that fueled Ben’s performance in Milan. For anyone inspired by his journey, Monogram offers hands-on workshops where you can learn to brew, steam, and pour like a pro right here in Calgary.
Congratulations to Ben and the Monogram team. You have once again put Calgary’s coffee scene on the world map.
