Chocoberry opened its doors today at 201 10th St. NW, bringing its first Canadian location to Calgary’s Kensington neighbourhood.
The Leicester-born brand has been building a following across the U.K. since 2018 and now has over 30 locations worldwide. The Calgary outpost is its first venture into North America, which makes it a bit of a milestone for the brand and a genuinely new addition to the city’s cafe scene.
The concept is built around all-day brunch, specialty coffee and desserts, and the presentation is a big part of the appeal. Expect elaborate floral arrangements and dishes that lean heavily into the visual. The signature waffle bites topped with chocolate and strawberries are a menu staple, as is the San Sebastian cheesecake, which has become a standout across U.K. locations. Reviews from existing locations also point to the kunafa, tiramisu latte and chocolate milkshakes as worth ordering.
The coffee is made from single-origin Arabica beans, roasted in small batches with notes of chocolate and caramel.
It is worth noting these impressions come from U.K. locations, so the Calgary menu may vary slightly. Worth going in with an open mind and reporting back.
