Calgary’s pizza scene has gotten genuinely good over the last few years. You’ve got wood-fired Neapolitan, New York-style foldable slices, Detroit deep dish, and a few spots doing things that don’t fit neatly into any category. These are the 10 worth knowing about.
Noble PieÂ
Noble Pie sits in a back alley off 11 Ave SW, which tells you something about the attitude here. The focus is on doing a small number of things exceptionally well: quality ingredients, obsessive crust work, and flavour combinations that hold up on repeat visits.
Order: Sweet Chesus with mozzarella, caciocavallo and hot honey, or the Red Hook with arrabbiata sauce and Mike’s Extra Hot Honey if you want heat.
Beltline | 720 11 Ave SW (back alley entrance) noblepiepizza.com | @noblepiepizza
Pizza Culture
Voted one of the top 100 pizzerias in the world, Pizza Culture earns that recognition through wood-fired precision and genuine Neapolitan technique. The leopard-spotted crusts are the giveaway that something is being done right here.
Order: The Mortadella for something rich and creamy, or the New Yorker if you want a well-executed classic.

Una Pizza + Wine
Una has been setting the standard for Calgary pizza since the 17th Ave location opened, and the formula still works: thin, crispy-edged pies, a solid wine list, and a room that works for both date night and a casual weeknight. Five locations now across the city means there’s rarely an excuse not to go.
Order: Whatever is seasonal, but the prosciutto options are consistently strong across the menu.
17th Ave | 618 17 Ave SW University District | 4034 University Ave NW Bridgeland | 110-69 7a Street NE Willow Park | 408-10816 Macleod Trail SE (takeaway and delivery only) Broadcast | 8529 Broadcast Ave SW unapizzeria.com | @unapizzeria
Posto Pizzeria & Bar
Connie and John’s PizzaÂ
The rare spot that does two completely different styles well. The New York-style pies have that proper foldable golden crust, and the Detroit-style is the real deal: crispy edges, generous toppings, and enough cheese to make the whole thing slightly unreasonable in the best way.
Order: Jersey Joe’s Margherita or Island Pie for New York style. Roni Cup or Cheesy Brick if you’re going Detroit.
East Village | 618 Confluence Way SE (inside The Simmons Building) Marda Loop | 2044 33 Ave SW (inside Blush Lane) University District | 482 McLaurin St NW (inside the Alt Hotel) connieandjohns.com | @connieandjohnspizza
Seniore’s PizzaÂ
A Calgary institution. The Donair Pizza is the reason people make the trip to Beddington, and the lineups are a regular occurrence. This is not a trendy spot and it doesn’t need to be. It has been doing exactly what it does for a long time and people keep coming back.
Order: The Donair Pizza. That’s the whole point.
Beddington | 176 Bedford Drive NE seniorespizza.ca | @seniorespizza
Dandy Brewing Company
Dandy is primarily a brewery, but the pizza here is worth ordering on its own merits. The Pickle Pizza has become something of a Calgary thing, and it works better than you’d expect. Pair it with whatever is on tap and you have a solid Inglewood afternoon.
Order: Pickle Pizza if you’re curious, or a classic Pepperoni if you’re not. Either way, order a beer.

Bow Tie Pizza
A neighbourhood pizza spot done properly. The dough is cold-aged 48 hours and baked in a stone-deck oven, which gives the crust a flavour and texture that sets it apart from most comparable spots. Housemade sauces, local meats, and gluten-free options handled with care.
Order: Any of the Best Dressed pizzas, which rotate through housemade sauces and local ingredients.
Multiple locations: Thorncliffe, Mahogany, Sage Hill, Killarney, Canyon Meadows bowtiepizza.com | @bowtiepizzayyyc
Pizza Face
Started as a pop-up at some of Calgary’s better restaurants before landing a permanent spot on 17th Ave. The menu leans into creative combinations without feeling gimmicky, and the room works for a casual night out. Booze available, which helps.
Order: The Pickle Pizza (yes, another one), the Burger Pizza, or Toni’s Roni with crispy pepperoni cups.

Pizza Letty
The newest entry on this list and one of the more considered pizza spots to open in the city recently. Chef Daniel Ramon’s neo-Neapolitan approach produces a crust that’s crispy and airy at once, and the toppings are more interesting than most. The room inside BLVD Beltline is worth the visit on its own.
Order: Smoked Pork Belly Hawaiian or Pear and Gorgonzola. Weekend brunch is also worth knowing about.

A Quick Note
A few of these spots have lineups on weekends, particularly Noble Pie, Seniore’s and Pizza Culture. Going early or on a weeknight is almost always the better move. Most don’t take reservations, so plan accordingly.
