Henzo’s Has Soft Opened In Northeast Calgary

Northeast Calgary has a new all-day halal café worth knowing about.

Henzo’s, a Victoria-born concept, has soft opened in Savanna with a menu that moves from brunch and burgers to crispy chicken, coffee, matcha and milk cakes, along with a selection of Mughlai dishes.

The Calgary location is in its soft-opening phase, with a grand opening planned for later this month.

Saint Vincent Is Bringing Serious Calgary Restaurant Pedigree To Marda Loop

Marda Loop is getting a new neighbourhood steakhouse this fall, and the team behind it will sound familiar to longtime Calgary diners.

Saint Vincent comes from the founders, original owners and former staff behind UNA Pizza + Wine, Bread and Circus Trattoria, Frenchie Wine Bar and the much-missed Ox and Angela.

The menu will be inspired by Spain, with local ingredients, produce sourced from nearby farms and dishes designed for sharing. The space is still under construction, but the team has started teasing a patio, window bar and back booth. Saint Vincent plans to open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.

CRAFT Is Opening A Third Calgary Location With A Year-Round Rooftop

CRAFT Beer Market is heading deeper into southeast Calgary with a new Shepard Flats location opening August 27.

The Calgary-born restaurant will have both outdoor and rooftop patios, including a rooftop designed to stay open year-round.

The opening comes 15 years after CRAFT first launched on 10 Avenue SW, and just months after the company made its U.S. debut in Dallas.

Reservations are already open, and the first 250 bookings for August 27 or later receive a $20 CRAFT On Us Card while quantities last.

Lutador Is Bringing Calgary A Zero-Proof Brazilian Rodizio

Calgary is getting an all-you-can-eat Brazilian barbecue restaurant that will not pour a drop of alcohol.

Lutador is opening on 14th Street NW from Dinars & Dirhams Investing Inc., built around rodizio-style barbecue, Brazilian-inspired pizza and a drinks program the team describes as one hundred per cent zero proof. They are calling it Canada’s first sober sports bar, and the menu is halal.

The reasoning in their announcement is that nobody should have to pick between a good night out and their values, whether that comes down to faith, health or preference. There are big screens and a family-friendly room alongside it, but the zero-proof piece is what makes this different from anything else in the city.

An opening date has not been announced.

Gyubee Is Finally Opening On Macleod Trail

Gyubee Japanese Grill is opening its first Calgary location, and the wait has been a long one.

The Ontario-born chain has been teasing a Macleod Trail spot since fall 2025. It is all-you-can-eat Japanese barbecue, where you cook premium cuts at your own table, with beef brisket, pork belly, lamb, chicken and seafood on the lineup.

Gyubee has built a following across the country, with several Ontario locations plus Montreal and Metro Vancouver. Recent posts show the dining room finished and the tabletop grills already in.

An opening date has not been announced.

The Butter-Dipped Soft Serve Trend Has Reached Calgary

Made by Marcus has teamed up with Terroir Artisan Butter on a soft serve cone dipped in warm cultured butter, which sets into a thin shell the way a chocolate dip does, then finished with flaky sea salt.

The trend started with pastry chef Dominique Ansel in New York last summer and has been racking up millions of views since. This is Alberta’s first version, and Terroir makes its butter with Alberta A2 grass-fed cream cultured for 48 hours.

It launched August 5 at the Inglewood shop and is only around for a limited time.

Clos de la Oyster Barre Is Taking Over Teatro

Teatro is loosening the tie a little this month.

Clos de la Oyster Barre is back again taking over the downtown dining room for an August pop-up built around seafood small plates, 90s hip hop and a noticeably less formal mood than Teatro’s usual one.

Mala bartenders Judith Kwong and Paulina Arteaga join on August 19 and 20, followed by an August 21 dinner featuring guest chefs Laetitia Chrapchynski of Francine’s and Kristen Livingston of River Café.
