The team behind OLEA is keeping Calgary’s dining scene on its toes with a bold experiment: a 100-night rotating pop-up series where each concept takes over for one season, then makes way for the next.
The first edition, Oori Nori, had us rolling through summer with sushi-in-a-cone perfection. Now it’s time for round two. Starting October 4, Los Taqueros will transform the former Sensei Bar into a vibrant taquería inspired by Mexico’s legendary street food culture. It’s only here for 100 nights, so if you missed Oori Nori, don’t let this one slip by.
What to expect
Hand-pressed tacos in soulful, classic styles: barbacoa, al pastor, birria, and cochinita. Sides like guacamole, potato tortitas, and cheesy quesadillas. A cocktail list that leans hard into mezcal and tequila with craft margaritas, carajillos, and other late-night sips. For dessert, Paleta Bars — ice cream dipped and topped any way you like.
The vibe
With only 46 seats, Los Taqueros is intentionally intimate. Think date-night energy, a little buzz in the air, and food at the center of it all. As Culinary Director Ryan Blackwell says, “The taquería is an institution in Mexico. Not just a place to eat, but a gathering of spirit, soul, and flavour.” That’s the magic they’re recreating here.
