If you’ve ever wanted the full hot and cold plunge spa ritual without having to shuffle through steamy rooms packed with strangers, your wish is about to come true.
Leela Thermal House is opening in Calgary on October 8, and it is the city’s first spa fully dedicated to private hydrotherapy suites. That means you and a friend (or just you, if solo zen is your thing) get your own device-free sanctuary with Estonian wood sauna, cold plunge, meditation, tea service, and a 60-minute massage to finish it all off.
Instead of timing your sauna sessions around a crowd, you move at your own pace through the two-hour journey: shower, sauna, cold plunge, tea, repeat, then massage. Everything is provided including robe, slippers, towels, and even a phone sleeve so you can truly unplug.
Pricing starts at $170 for the two-hour Thermal Retreat plus Massage. Thermal-only options are available if you just want the heat and cold ritual. Guests must be 18+ and not pregnant to access the facilities.
Leela Thermal House comes from the team behind Leela Eco Spa and SKA Thermal Spa, who have been steadily growing Calgary’s wellness scene. They have already confirmed a second Thermal House location in Kensington, so this private spa concept is here to stay.
