Sad foodie news for Calgary this week: one of the city’s favorite spots for burgers and tacos has shut down.
The J Spot has closed its location inside Avenida Food Hall and Fresh Market, where it had been serving up eats for the past six years.
The owners say their lease was originally set to run another month, but on August 31 they were told by the market to pack up immediately. That meant Sunday ended up being their final day of service.

While this chapter ends abruptly, The J Spot isn’t gone for good. The team confirmed they’re already looking for another space and plan to bring the concept back in the future.
In the meantime, fans can still find some of their menu favorites at the owners’ sister restaurant, Aloha Modern Kitchen.
