The Suncor Energy Centre, a familiar fixture in the city’s skyline, is about to undergo a major transformation. $90 million will be poured into revamping the space, turning it from a traditional office complex into a vibrant, mixed-use destination. Expected to open its doors by 2027, this redevelopment promises to offer much more than just a place to work.
Led by Brookfield Properties and ARCI Ltd., the project will introduce a dynamic blend of entertainment, dining, and community spaces to the heart of Calgary. At its core will be an amphitheatre hosting a rich variety of events—everything from live music and art shows to film screenings and wellness workshops. The design includes 300 tiered seats surrounded by lush greenery, offering a laid-back, outdoor atmosphere right in the city.
For food lovers, the food hall will be a year-round destination, offering a wide range of culinary delights throughout the day and evening. A full-service bar will provide the perfect spot to wind down after work or grab a drink before or after an event. Visitors can also enjoy a terrace and a rooftop patio with views of downtown Calgary—because let’s face it, every great city experience needs a good view.
Designed by KPMG Architects, Kasian Architecture, and Tawaw Architecture Collective, the space will be a modern, community-focused venue with an emphasis on connection and creativity. On top of all the entertainment and dining options, there will also be enhanced office amenities, including a fitness centre, conference rooms, and tenant lounges—perfect for anyone who needs to balance work with a bit of leisure.
