Pastiche Is Now Open In Bridgeland

A new chef-driven restaurant and wine bar has opened inside Bridgeland’s historic De Waal Block.

Pastiche opened August 11 with a menu built around seasonal shared plates and French-inspired cooking with a twist. Early dishes include fried cheese curds with citrus honey, scallops and bavette steak with pomme aligot.

The drinks list leans heavily into wine, alongside original cocktails and a menu designed for settling in and sharing.

Prado Coffee Opens Its First Calgary Café In Britannia

One of Vancouver’s best-known specialty coffee names has officially landed in Calgary.

Prado Coffee has opened its first Calgary café in Britannia Plaza, taking over the former Starbucks space that closed last year.

The Vancouver-born company started with a single café on Commercial Drive and has since expanded across Vancouver, Burnaby and Surrey. Prado is led by Sammy Piccolo, a four-time Canadian Barista Champion who represented Canada at the World Barista Championships.

The focus is specialty coffee, fresh baked goods and the neighbourhood-first café atmosphere Prado has built its reputation around.

Analog Coffee Opens In University District

Analog Coffee has opened its newest Calgary café in University District.

The Calgary-born coffee company opened the new location on August 8 at 3810 University Avenue NW, adding another northwest outpost to its growing collection of cafés across Calgary and beyond.

Koyla Lounge Brings A Taste Of Brampton To Calgary

Koyla Lounge and Cocktail Bar has opened on 16 Avenue NW, bringing a Brampton-inspired late-night restaurant and bar concept to Calgary.

The menu moves between Indian favourites and bar food, with dishes designed for a late-night crowd.

Koyla is also going very late-night, open daily from 2 pm to 2 am.

The Diamond Lounge Opens Beneath The Inn On Officers’ Garden

A new cocktail and wine lounge has opened in Currie, tucked inside The Inn on Officers’ Garden.

The Diamond Lounge soft opened August 6 with a menu built around cocktails, wine and shareable plates. Drinks range from classic martinis to house creations like the Black Diamond Noir, made with vodka, Galliano, coffee liqueur and espresso.

The food menu includes baked oysters, maple-cured salmon belly, duck confit prairie pie, grilled flank steak, potato croquettes and Saskatoon berry crumble.

Fenyk Coffee Is Opening A Third Calgary Location In Rangeview

Fenyk Coffee & Social is expanding to southeast Calgary.

The local café has confirmed a third Calgary location is coming to Rangeview, joining its existing cafés at Northland and WinSport. Fenyk is already hiring for the new shop, although an opening date has not yet been announced.

The café is known for coffee and espresso drinks alongside breakfast and café fare, with seasonal drinks regularly rotating through the menu.

UNA Pizza + Wine Is Opening Another Calgary Location

UNA Pizza + Wine is staying close to home for its next opening.

The Calgary-born restaurant teased an expansion before confirming that another Calgary location will open this fall. The neighbourhood is still under wraps, with the team promising a reveal in the coming weeks.

Tava Wok Is Opening A New Northeast Calgary Location

Tava Wok is expanding with another northeast Calgary restaurant.

The Indian and Indo-Chinese spot will soft open its new Redstone location on August 16, serving the street-style dishes the restaurant is known for, including Indo-Chinese favourites, chaat and kathi rolls.

The new restaurant joins Tava Wok’s existing location on 80 Avenue NE.

Closing Soon

Pure Saigonese Kitchen Is Closing Its West Springs Pop-Up

Pure Saigonese Kitchen is wrapping up its West Springs run at the end of August, but the reason is a happy one.

Chef Lam Pham and his family are preparing to welcome a new baby, and the chef is stepping away to spend time with his growing family. The Vietnamese pop-up has been operating inside The Morning Brunch for the past eight months and will serve its final dinner on August 30.

Catering will continue through sister concept Pure Street Food.

Rodney’s Is Bringing Back Its Beer Vs. Wine Dinner

Rodney’s Oyster House is putting beer and wine head-to-head over a four-course seafood dinner later this month.

Tool Shed Beer and Crush Imports will each provide pairings for a menu that starts with Leslie Hardy oysters before moving through zucchini soup with red crab, seared scallops with creamy polenta, Atlantic salmon with dauphinoise potato and a sea buckthorn white chocolate dessert.

The pairings won’t be revealed until dinner, leaving guests to decide which side wins the night.

Tickets are $145 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
