An hour walk and talk mentoring session and networking opportunity in Calgary for women at all stages of their careers.

WHAT’S A WALK?

The concept is simple: You and up to two other aspiring women spend an invigorating hour walking and talking along the Bow River with a seasoned female mentor. It’s a supportive space to tackle career progression, discuss work worries, workshop challenges and build connections. It’s for any type of career conversation, and for any stage in your career.

It’s career conversations with exceptional women: We connect you with the leaders in Calgary who have walked the path. They are the inspirational CEOs, Founders, Executives and Directors who want to back the women in their community to keep moving forward. Along with other striving mentees, it’s a powerful hour.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

Clarity and connection: Walk to get clarity on your next steps, and grow your capability towards tangible progress. This is gained from the invaluable insights from outstanding leaders, effortlessly shared during a casual walk, transforming challenges into manageable opportunities. As importantly, an expanded network, forged by connecting with like-minded local women with shared similar experiences. With every walk, meet more women ready to support your journey, turning networks into impactful connections.

PLEASE NOTE: Each ticket is heavily subsidised thanks to the generous support of our partners. Mentor Walks is a not for profit, and contributions cover the cost of operations and marketing. If cost is a barrier, please contact calgary@mentorwalks.org, we’ll make sure you can walk with us.

FAQs

WHAT DOES THE COST INCLUDE?

Your walk includes being matched and connected to the most senior women to mentor you and up to two other mentees based on your question, our local team who make each walk possible and all things behind the scenes. Mentee spots are offered at a heavily subsidised cost of at $33.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW TO WALK?

Walks start at 7:10 am and end at 8:30 am, with a $33 cost. Wear whatever’s comfortable to walk in, leggings, runners, jeans, etc. We walk rain or shine, heading to a cafe if needed. Ticket refunds can be done 7 days prior, for more info: mentorwalks.org/frequently-asked-questions

WHO CAN JOIN A WALK?

Women with at least one year of work experience who can safely participate in a walk on public paths are welcome to attend. If you’re a student, have mobility considerations, questions about identifying as a woman, or other circumstances, please visit mentorwalks.org/frequently-asked-questions.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE LEAD UP TO A WALK?

HOW AM I MATCHED?

We prioritise matching you with a mentor best suited to guide you at the walk based on your booking. Mentees may be matched by career focus. Not everyone will be from the same industry or experience level, making conversations powerful! Matchings will be announced at the walk.

WHAT HAPPENS I ARRIVE AT THE WALK?

Your Local Coordinators (LCs) will check you in and let you know your mentor – while waiting, meet the other mentees & mentors – At 7.20am your Local Leaders will do a welcome and how the walk works, then get the mentors to intro themselves – look out for yours! See your LCs for any queries.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE WALK?

Your group walks together for an hour. Mentors facilitate the confidential conversation, making sure each mentee gets time while also guiding a collective group discussion on each other’s questions and challenges – this is the magic happens!

WHAT HAPPENS THE WALK ENDS?

At 8.30 am meet back at the meeting spot. Then, you can head off, or stay to connect further, exchange info, talk more, and take photos. Make the most of your morning: share your experience, follow and talk about us on socials, and connect with your group – they’ll want to hear from you!

CAN I WALK AGAIN?

We’re in Calgary six times a year. Walk as many times as you want, with a different mentor and group each time for a diverse view. Ask the same question for a different perspective or something new. Each walk, you’ll meet more women to support you. Walk dates here: mentorwalks.org/locations
