Our lives are defined by the past. Defined by people we never met. Defined by choices we had no say in.
What if we could be defined by the future?
We spent a week in 2025 building material from the starting ingredients of home and memory, and the aesthetics of the cyberpunk genre. Seeded out of what it is to live here, in Calgary / Mohkinstsis, at the Confluence, a place things mix.
Large Language Models and algorithms dominate our information spaces. The headlines (served by software) make our science fiction dreams feel like documentaries.
We are building a story a visionary examines and changes the information layer that has encrusted our lives. Perhaps we can pull something good out of the future, into today.
This project was funded by Calgary Arts Development.
Created by: CJ Gordon, Dylan Lindsay, and Jason Mehmel
There will be opportunity for feedback and socializing after the performance.
