Embodied Gathering: Softening Your Inner Critic
A women’s gathering with an herbal tea ceremony, somatic writing, guided movement, authentic sharing, and an ‘imperfect dance practice’.
Embodied Gathering: Softening Your Inner Critic
A gathering for women to meet their inner critic and soften it, so perfectionism and shame no longer rule how you show up in life.
Friday, November 13
6:15-8:30 PM
Investment: $55
The inner critic says things like:
“You’re not good enough.”
“You’re going to mess this up.”
“You’re too much.”
“Don’t put yourself out there, you’ll be judged.”
“Something must be wrong with you.”
Sometimes this voice is loud. Sometimes it’s subtle, woven so deeply into your beliefs about yourself that it just sounds like the truth.
Underneath the inner critic is both fear and shame. This part of you absorbed criticism and painful experiences from others, and made them the voice you hear inside.
But shame can loosen its grip. To soften your inner critic, you learn to recognize its voice and interrupt its spiral. You meet it with acceptance and compassion, and you speak truth into yourself and practice speaking it into one another for co-regulation and support.
In this 2-hour gathering, you will be guided through:
An opening herbal tea ceremony to support nervous system regulation
Somatic writing to get to know your inner critic
Somatic movement to discover how your inner critic shows up in your body
Authentic sharing in pairs: speaking what’s true, being heard, and listening in return
The Imperfect Dance Practice, a guided dance to play with being messy and imperfect, and to be free of fear’s rules
Integration, sharing, and a closing grounding experience
What to bring:
Cushion
Yoga mat
Blanket
Water bottle
Comfortable clothes you can move in
Journal and pen
This evening is an invitation to be seen, accepted, and held in community, and to feel shame lose its grip.
