Drink Wine With Jason Priestley Next Month at Modern Steak

If your December plans need a little Hollywood meets Alberta beef energy, this is it.

Modern Steak Stephen Ave is hosting a one-night-only wine dinner with Jason Priestley (yes, that Jason Priestley, Canadian icon, actor, director and very serious wine lover) and Chad Oakes, the award-winning Calgary-born producer behind shows like Fargo, The Umbrella Academy, Hell on Wheels, Van Helsing and Ghost Wars.

Together they created Oak and Priest Wine Company, a boutique small-batch winery built on storytelling, craftsmanship and a genuine love of great wine.

And on Thursday, December 18, you can sip five of their wines while dining with them in person.

Yes. Drinking wine with Jason Priestley is something you can actually do in Calgary this month.

What This Night Is All About

This is more than a wine dinner. Think of it as a storyteller’s table.

You will meet the creators behind Oak and Priest, hear how a Canadian actor and a powerhouse producer built a boutique winery, and enjoy a chef-driven menu that celebrates Modern Steak and Alberta’s Benchmark beef.

Seating is long-table style which means social, communal and perfect for conversation. The kind of night where people leave as friends.

About Oak & Priest Wine Company

Oak and Priest began in 2005 when Jason and Chad decided, after a very enthusiastic dinner conversation, that they wanted to make wine. Their first big move was partnering to help purchase and grow Black Hills Estate Winery in the Okanagan. Over ten years, they helped transform it from a small 3,400 case family vineyard into a 16,000 case boutique winery and one of Canada’s most well-known tasting room destinations, until it was sold in 2017 to Andrew Peller Limited.

They later teamed up with Napa winemakers Les Behrens and Lisa Drinkward to create tiny, collectible batches like The Director and The Producer. In 2020, the California wildfires destroyed their barrels and inventory, but the team rebuilt and returned with new small-lot wines that sold out almost instantly.

Today, Oak and Priest is known for bold, character-driven wines made in very limited quantities, including The Bomb Cabernet Sauvignon, The Great Escape Cabernet Sauvignon, Sin Toro Grenache and their first white wine Out of the Park Sauvignon Blanc.

It is a winery built on passion, persistence and two friends who truly love great wine.
