Saturday nights just leveled up. Veronika Slowikowska, a 29-year-old comedian from Barrie, Ontario, is joining Saturday Night Live for Season 51 as one of five new featured players this fall. She is the only Canadian in the new class and the only woman, which feels very “we’re rooting for you from the Rockies” energy.
The quick download

-
When she debuts: Saturday, October 4, with new episodes airing in Canada on Global.
-

Where you’ve seen her
-
Tires (Netflix): A workplace sitcom co-created by Shane Gillis about a struggling auto shop trying to get its act together. Think chaotic cousins, awkward bosses, and customers who keep arriving at the worst possible time. Veronika appears as Kelly across the series.
-
What We Do in the Shadows (FX): A mockumentary about vampires attempting ordinary life. Veronika plays Shanice, a college student and vampire hunter who pulls the story back to the human side of the chaos.
-
Davey & Jonesie’s Locker (Prime Video and Hulu): A dimension-hopping teen comedy that earned her a 2025 Canadian Screen Award for Best Lead Performer in a children’s or youth series. Yes, actual hardware.
Why this matters, even if you usually watch the highlights on Sunday
Veronika’s style is expressive, slightly unhinged in the best way, and genuinely quick. That translates beautifully to live sketch. With SNL in a reset year, the stage is set for breakout characters you will actually quote at brunch. And it is always a win to see a Canadian take a big swing on TV’s most famous comedy stage.
